All bees are in decline at the moment and that includes the honey bee, this is mostly due to the impact that mankind has on nature from pesticides that are used commonly to keep certain crops free of certain insects to the fact that monoculture farming is  becoming the main way or producing crops.

Unfortunately the once common wild colonies of honey bees have all but disappeared due to the varroa mite that has appeared in virtually all beehives  meaning that the pollination that once would have occurred is more reliant on hives that are managed by beekeepers.

As Einstein once said "If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe, then man would have only four years of life left. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man."
